"With this new 2ha range, we are able to produce (almost) everything in our own facilities again" says Josef Heuger this year, owner of Heuger-Gartenbaubetriebe. This German hellebore and hydrangea grower has been short with greenhouse space for a long time and a significant part of their production took place at rented facilities or was contracted out. Now, the total greenhouse space is 5.5ha.

Filled with hellebore
While the work outside is still in progress, the greenhouses are already completely filled with hellebore young plants. "The greenhouses are ready, and we are very happy to take advantage of the high degree of automation and advanced growing tools this new facility offers."
Automation in the greenhouse
The new 2 ha greenhouse is a 12.80 Venlo construction and equipped with mobile benches (Otte), Logiqs 2D-Shuttles, Mayer pot filler, spacing and potting robots, TTA transplanting and sorting machines, Ellepot machine (fully automated), automated spray booms for watering and fertilizing (Gierhake, TGB), and automated spray boom for applying chemicals and biologicals (Visser).
New office building
Besides the new greenhouse, they also established a new office building that was built at the same time at their location in Schwege.
Further expansion
And more plans for expansion are in the pipeline. "Behind the new greenhouses we have room for another 2ha expansion. From heating, to automation, everything has been laid out for a final size of 4ha."
