5 years of Westland Horti Tours ambassadors for Dutch horticulture

Westland Horti Tours celebrated its 5th anniversary on April 1st. 5 years ago, Aad Verduijn started guiding mainly foreign visitors in greenhouses and companies in the Westland. Aad as a true “Westlander” knows the way and over the years he has made many contacts with growers and prominent people in the sector. “I like to tell people about the Westland. Innovation and technology have always had my interest, so I can actually talk about everything,” says Aad.

It is difficult for people who are not familiar with the horticultural world to enter or get a good idea of what is going on in the field of production, cultivation technique and innovation. In the meantime, a large network has been built up of companies that are happy to cooperate and open their doors to Westland Horti Tours.

“I am always proud to be a 'Westlander' when I enter companies with a group. Whether they are growers or people from the government, I always see the surprised looks when they see the high level of our production methods and organizations ”, Aad continues.

With more than 250 guided tours per year, Westland Horti Tours is the business card of Dutch greenhouse horticulture.

“You can come to us for a tour, a visit to greenhouses or a company in (technical) supplies. We also provide multi-day activities where the guests leave the complete program to us, from hotel reservations, transportation or a pinch of culture to conclude the program”, tells Aad.

“In the past 5 years, we have always received a positive response from the people we have guided, which is also evident because organizations regularly come back to us. Sometimes we also receive requests for more information about the companies we have visited or the technology they have seen, so we are also ambassadors for these companies. Always nice if you can help each other”, Aad smiles.

Despite the Corona crisis, Westland Horti Tours remains positive about the future. At this time, all tours have been canceled for the next two months. The problems for the entire sector are enormous. “Sunshine always comes after rain. As far as I'm concerned, on to the next lustrum”, concludes Aad.
