In recent years, Siyang County, Jiangsu Province has vigorously developed the flower economy, and the plantation area of the county has reached 4,666 hectares. Relying on flower fields, the local area is actively expanding the flower industry chain, developing derivative products, developing rural tourism, etc., while developing the flower appreciation economy, and taking the developing method of "two after three" integration of farming and tourism.
"It's so spectacular, so beautiful, come and make a video." During this period, thousands of roses by Chengzi Lake in Siyang County, Jiangsu Province are blooming gorgeously. Visitors from Nanjing, Shanghai, and other places came to see flowers, enjoy flowers, take photos with flowers and enjoy the beauty and fragrance of the flower sea.
Roses are just one of the "flower seas" in Siyang County. In recent years, Siyang County has vigorously developed the flower economy, and the planting area of flowers in the county has reached 4,666 hectares. Among them, "five golden flowers" of roses, peonies, anthuriums, peach blossoms, and chrysanthemums are large in scale and highly industrialized. In Siyang County, while flowers bring people the enjoyment of beauty, it also activates the local wealth.
The flower economy brings wealth in the pocket
"Our “cloning” technology can breed a leaf into 1 million anthuriums. There is a saying, you give me a leaf, I give you an industry. It is not an exaggeration." Ling Feidong, a technician at Jiangsu Xinjingjie Flower Professional Cooperative, told the reporter.
This cooperative is a high-end flower base in Lai'an Street, Siyang County. Walking into the flower-planting greenhouse at the base, you can see a large piece of Anthurium with basically the same height and size. Peng Tiejun, secretary of the Party Working Committee of Lai'an Subdistrict in Siyang County, introduced that this base covers an area of 300 hectares and can "clone" 30 million high-end flower seedlings, 2 million pots of flowers and 40,000 seedlings.
The same piece of land makes a big difference in income. Jiangsu Xinjingjie Flower Professional Cooperative through the "cooperative + farmers" model, radiating the surrounding more than 1,000 hectares of the flower industry, with an output value of 450,000 RMB per hectare. In addition to paying the villagers 12,750 RMB of land rent per hectare per year, the cooperative also pays 750 RMB in management fees per hectare of land, which can increase the economic income of the village collective by 225,000 RMB per year.
The flower economy not only strengthens the village but also enriches the local people. Peonies, peach blossoms, roses, chrysanthemums, and anthuriums not only bring benefits in income, but flower fields have also become new workplaces for employment for more than 6,200 farmers.
Wisdom turns "flower on grass" into "flower on gold”
In Siyang County, flowers are not only the scenery in their eyes but also the “scenery” for increasing income. The thought of the ecological development of the flower industry has doubled the value of the "five golden flowers".
Peony Industrial Base in Wangji Town, Siyang County is the largest Oil Tree Peony producing area in Jiangsu Province and the only oil peony demonstration cooperative in the province. In late April, around 300 hectares of Oil Tree Peony were blooming, attracting tourists to enjoy the view.
"Choosing Oil Tree Peony for oil is not just for its good appearance, we also value its economic value." Zhang Huaming, the person in charge of the base, said. In order to maximize the benefits of these peonies, they teamed up with experts from the Jiangsu Academy of Forestry to develop the peony seed oil, peony essential oil, peony capsules, peony tea, and peony beauty products with the help of the scientific methods to ecologically cultivate Oil Tree Peony.
Zhang Huaming calculated, "After the Oil Tree Peony enters its full production period, one hectare can produce 6000 kg of peony seeds and squeeze 26 kg of peony seed oil. The selling price of the peony seed oil is 2400 RMB per kilogram, and the average income per hectare can reach 900,000 RMB. "
Ideas determine the way out, and ideas change the value. Peach blossoms, chrysanthemums, and roses were used to watch and transform into many kinds of flower teas.
Almost 100 hectares of chrysanthemums are planted in Xiaoshiji Village, Zhangjiaxu Town, Siyang County. In order to increase the value of chrysanthemums, experts from the Nanjing Agricultural University were invited to instruct the villagers to plant Gold Chrysanthemum, develop chrysanthemum tea, soap, and other products. "One golden chrysanthemum can sell for 10 RMB, and there are about 460 golden chrysanthemums per kilogram." In this light, the little chrysanthemum has brought wealth for villagers.
"Flower as a media" promotes the integration of agriculture and tourism
Siyang County not only grows and sells flowers but also "sells landscapes." They use flowers as a medium to develop tourism, catering, and other service industries, to achieve integration of farming and tourism, promote the innovation chain, extend the industrial chain, and enhance the value chain.
In recent years, Siyang County has established itself as a "hometown of peaches", taking the green development and increasing the local income. At present, more than 40 famous and excellent varieties of peaches are planted in 4 categories of 400 hectares, with an annual output of 100,000 tons per year. The output value of 1 billion RMB has driven the employment of over 12,000 people.
While the peach industry is accelerating its expansion, Siyang is committed to the integrated development of the peach production industry and tourism. It has created a number of peach orchards and pear orchards, combined with rural tourism, leisure agriculture, and rural tourism. According to local conditions, a number of leisure and tourism industries such as farming experience, special cuisine, fishing and picking fruits, and rural vacation have been developed. By organizing activities such as the "Peach Blossom Festival", "Pear Blossom Festival" and "Picking Festival", the county blends farming experiences, picking and other orchard landscape elements, driving more than 100,000 tourists every year. It has stimulated the development of rural tourism, commerce, and catering, and increased tourism revenue by more than 100 million RMB.
"Oil Tree Peony has both practical value and ornamental value. The base is planning to build a 20-hectare core ornamental area, introducing a batch of ornamental peony to extend the viewing period for tourists." The local official said, besides, the local area is working hard to build a green ecological park integrating scientific research, planting, e-commerce, and sightseeing.
