"Our chrysanthemum is the only one in the market." In the trading hall of Hengmei International Huadu Market in Yongqing County, Langfang City, former Beijing flower merchant Gao Yan proudly introduced her unique chrysanthemum. More than ten kinds of chrysanthemums in various colors are neatly placed on the stall.
Since 2018, 286 flower merchants from Beijing have settled in Yongqing. Focusing on flower planting and sales, Hengmei Huadu Park is building a big data center, using scientific and technological strength to provide services such as seedling breeding, planting, picking, and online display to help transform traditional industries.
Gao Yan has been operating flowers in Beijing for 16 years. Prior to this, she operated Phalaenopsis and Chrysanthemum at the Jinqishu Flower Market. Customers mainly come from Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and surrounding areas. "I have many varieties of unique chrysanthemums, and they have won awards in Badachu, World Park, and other places. The varieties are all very beautiful."
At the end of 2018, she moved the shop to Yongqing. The rent for one shop in Beijing was expensive, only 80 m2, and it was crowded. It was impossible to put a large number of seedlings. After moving to Yongqing, the shop was upgraded to 200 m2, and the total space now is larger, but the rent fell to less than one-fifth of the original. After arriving in Yongqing, the customers followed her movement. She also began to try to grow flowers by herself. “I rented more than 650 m2 of land in the park to grow lotus, water lilies, and other flowers, which are very popular with customers.”
In 2018, several flower markets in Beijing are facing dissolution and retreat. Yongqing County seized the opportunity and established the "Jingnan Yongqing Flower Trading Center Promotion Special Program". According to the person in charge of the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Yongqing County, Yongqing has a strategically good location, only more than 20 kilometers away from Beijing Daxing International Airport. In addition, there are Beijing-Taiwan Expressway and Capital Ring Expressway in Yongqing. The other two are under construction, namely Jinshi Expressway and Jingde Expressway also with expressway exits in Yongqing.
Mr. Guan Zhenhe, chairman of Hengdu Beauty Group, said that the company has invested nearly 3 billion RMB to build a flower trading center composed of more than 60,000 m2 of high-end multi-span greenhouses, and a 2,000 m2 of logistics storage area. At the end of this year, the second phase of the Flower Trading Center and the Fresh Cut Flower Trading Hall will also open. The epidemic has blocked traditional sales channels. A live commerce team has been set up in the park to use the Internet to help merchants broaden their sales channels.
In the adjustment of agricultural structure, Yongqing County is gradually transforming from greenhouse vegetables to flower planting. Varieties such as chrysanthemum, begonia, mini rose, and clivia can all be grown locally. Yongqing is experimenting with an operating model of "the park is responsible for breeding seedlings and technical guidance, farmers are responsible for planting, and the park repurchases flowers".
Currently, a big data center for flowers, fruits, and vegetables in the park is under construction. Mr. Guan told the reporter: "We will combine the big data center, use big data, the Internet, the Internet of Things and other modern technology to strengthen the modernization of agricultural parks in an all-round way, which can basically form a multi-functional agriculture complex integrating seedling development and cultivation, flower planting and sales.
