Veiling Rhein-Maas has recorded a successful autumn business 2020, following on from the good results earlier this year. Overall, Veiling Rhein-Maas achieved a more than 12% higher product turnover at the end of October than in the same period last year. The digital sales channels Remote Buying, Clock pre sales and the Webshop continue to develop positively and are increasingly used by customers and suppliers of Veiling Rhein-Maas.
Products in demand
During autumn 2020, popular products at Veiling Rhein-Maas were Cyclamen, Azaleas, Hippeastrum and waxed onions as well as All Saints' Day and advent articles. Cut Chrysanthemums were also in demand, in particular coloured multi-flowered variants and the sort Tom Pearce. Less popular products were potted roses, Saintpaulia, Phalaenopsis and Kalanchoe. Arrangements were the most popular items around All Saints' Day.
Red popular in late autumn and advent
The advent business in preparation for the first advent of 2020 has been successful so far at Veiling Rhein-Maas, with a positive trend at sales and similar volumes as in the previous year. Currently, red products are in strong demand, while white products are slightly below last year's prices.
Final completion of the auction clock front
After the technical completion of the clock front at the end of August 2020, minor changes were made to the layout, which is now displayed on all eight auction clocks since the beginning of November. "The physical auction clock remains the heart of the auction. It is still important for our customers to see and inspect the products on site. However, in the context of current developments around the Corona pandemic, digital sales opportunities are becoming more popular. In the future, we expect that our customers will purchase via our digital channels on two to three days and on the other days on site in Straelen-Herongen," says Cees Hoekstra, Managing Director of Veiling Rhein-Maas.
10th anniversary
On 29 November 2010, the auction clocks of Veiling Rhein-Maas turned for the first time. "We would have loved to celebrate our 10th anniversary in this year together with our customers, suppliers and employees. Unfortunately, the current circumstances do not allow us to look back on ten eventful years together on site in Straelen-Herongen," adds Günther Esser, Managing Director of Veiling Rhein-Maas. "We are very proud of the successful and trusting cooperation with our partners and employees and we would like to express this with small surprises for our partners at the beginning of December 2020. For example, we will present several workpieces provided by our customers in the foyer in Straelen-Herongen, which fit thematically to our anniversary.“
