Eco-Wraps create eco-friendly bouquets

US: "High demand for 100% compostable bouquets for Valentine’s Day"

Sustainability is a topic that is gaining increasingly more traction in the market as more and more people are searching for sustainable products along with sustainable businesses. Sustainable solutions and alternatives are therefore being welcomed with open arms and Eco Fresh Bouquet 100% compostable Eco-Wraps is a good example. Over the years, the demand for this eco-friendly wrap increased and is expected to grow even further with the rise in demand for flowers. “Valentine’s 2021 sales are expected to triple over last year,” says Debbie Demarse-Dunleavy, founder of Eco Fresh Bouquet.

Increase in demand for sustainability
“The demand for sustainability has been an a consistent rise for years, as reflected in the demographics of our 28-48 aged customer base, who seek such solutions believing that global education and awareness, are of utmost importance in the practice of sustainability. People want to spend their dollars purchasing sustainable products and support businesses who sell them,” she explains.

Increase in demand for flowers
After Covid last March, sales pretty much halted until the farmers got creative and successfully pivoted to a retail sales model, or risk losing their fields of flowers. Many of the farmers set up drive throughs, advertising no “touch bouquets” while delivering to the customers back seat. People were buying flowers more than ever to reach out to loved ones they could no longer be with. While 2020 sales doubled from 2019, this Valentine’s Day 2021 has seen sales have triple over last year.

Flowers are hot
Increasing more growers and florists are interested in the 100% compostable bouquets as it is not only a more eco-friendly option, the flowers stay hydrated well too. A great example of one of one of their customers promoting sustainability while reaching out to strangers to, “Spread the Hope” during these challenging times: “A few weeks away from our tulip crop harvest at Red Twig Farms in New Albany, Ohio, we had to get innovative very fast as the state just went into a Stay at Home order. How are we going to keep the farm going without our Farm Store? We created a, “Donate 10 Stems to a Stranger from a Stranger Campaign,” for $10. We thought, okay, we will sell maybe 100 bouquets. Wrong! 1,011 bouquets to be exact, Spread the Hope campaign went into effect. Bouquets were donated to essential, front line workers and those who just hope. The Eco Fresh Bouquet 100% compostable Eco-Wraps, were exactly what we needed to keep the bouquets hydrated for those that would be working when bouquets arrived. We tested Eco-Wraps for up to 4 days and the flowers were still hydrated! Anyone doing any type of, “no touch” bouquet delivery or pick-up, should order these!” - Lindsey McCullough, Owner of Red Twig Farms.
