Catherine Dawson, explains in CIHort webinar on March 10th

A perspective on growing media in the UK in 2021

The future availability and use of peat is an issue that affects many sectors within the industry from young-plant raisers to hardy nursery stock production. Especially considering the recent announcement that Bord na Móna has ended all peat extraction on its own land. The Chartered Institute of Horticulture is delighted to be able to foster conversation on contemporary issues facing horticulturists and is therefore organizing a webinar in which Catherine Dawson, Technical Director of Melcourt Industries Ltd - one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of sustainable growing media and bark products - will give a perspective on growing media in the UK in 2021

Catherine Dawson is ideally placed to bring us up to speed on  the latest statistics on peat-reduction, progress with peat-free growing media, an update on the new cross-industry Responsible Sourcing of Growing Media Scheme. She has worked with bark and horticultural growing media for well over three decades. A previous Chair of the Growing Media Association, Catherine has been very actively involved in the cross-industry sustainable growing media task force and the new Responsible Sourcing of Growing Media Scheme.

The session will take place on Wednesday 10th of March at 3pm, is free to attend & open to all.

Registration closes on 8th March 2021.
