Turkey’s flower exports increased by 19% between January 1st and February 21st

Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters' Association Chairman Ismail Yilmaz: "In the period of January 1-February 21, 2021, the cut flower exports of Turkey reached 9.5 million stems and Turkish flower exporters have generated a revenue of 23.7 million USD in this period. These figures represent a significant increase over last year's numbers in the same period which were 7.9 million stems and 20 million USD, respectively.

Despite the Covid19 pandemic, we entered 2021 as an industry with a bang and achieved a 19% increase in exports. The flower is a product that normally goes into luxury consumption, but when the situation in the markets is considered, the exports in the sector have not stopped, and that they are continuing rapidly. Our flowers are especially in high-demand where the domestic production took a hit during the Covid-19 outbreak."
