Asia’s biggest Tulip Garden, located in Srinagar, is all set to open for visitors from Thursday this week as more than 1.5 million flowers are ready to bloom.
The garden, located on the foothills of Zabarwan mountain and one of the main tourist attractions in Kashmir during spring season, has 1.5 million tulips of different colours, the officials said.
The official said the garden will be thrown open for visitors from Thursday. The garden had remained closed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the first case of COVID-19 was reported in the month of March.
The pandemic had caused a loss of around 5 crores as the authorities had planted 1.3 million tulip bulbs.
Spread over an area of 600 kanals in the lap of Zabarwan, the garden has around sixty-two varieties of tulips.
Besides tulips, the garden also has several other flower species like Daffodils, Hyacinths, Roses, Ranunculi, Muscaria and Iris along with the blossoms of apricot and peach on the hills.
The garden was inaugurated in Kashmir during 2007 for tourists and remains open for visitors for three weeks after opening every year.
