China: Busy start to Hortiflorexpo IPM Shanghai

Whereas many exhibitions and other in-person events are being cancelled or postponed, the 23rd edition of the Hortiflorexpo IPM Shanghai is in full swing at the moment. The 3-day event took off today, and it already seems to become a busy show. This year, 700 exhibitors from 18 countries are participating and there are two pavilions, a German and a Dutch. Due to travel restrictions, most of the foreign companies will be represented in-person by their Chinese partners or branch offices.

Also DanDutch, a Danish-Dutch company that supplies greenhouse (mainly irrigation) equipment to local installers in Asia, exhibits with a booth at the Dutch pavilion. Owner Xander van der Zande is present online for questions and Mengyao Pan, is present at the booth. Looking back at the first day, they are both very pleased with the number and quality of the visitors. "Beyond our expectations," they say.

Pan was so kind to send us some pictures to give an impression of the first day.

The Hortiflorexpo IPM is being held every year in Beijing and Shanghai alternately. So, last year's edition of the Shanghai show was held in 2019 and the Beijing edition in 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation.

This year, the exhibition area is 40,000 (in 2019, it was nearly 50,000 sqm). Last year, there were 900 exhibitors from 30 countries and this year 700 from 18 countries (China, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, Japan, Belgium, Israel, France, USA, Finland, Greece, South Korea, Italy, Hongkong, and Taiwan)

Cooperation with IPM Essen
Hortiflorexpo is organized by China Flower Association, managed by Shanghai Intex Exhibition Co Ltd, in cooperation with IPM Essen. The show is held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
