Chalking in the cold and between rain showers

Contractors are currently busy with chalk work. The changeability of the weather at the moment does not make planning these assignments any easier. Steef Bruinen, planner at Marel Loonwerk and Marel Zuivert: "Sometimes three websites unanimously predict dry weather for the next day. And then….rain again." Nothing is more changeable than the weather, and this cliché is confirmed time and again.

The cold is also unfortunate. The tests of the substances that are used for chalk are all about the optimal conditions. That is of course a broad concept, but temperatures above 10 degrees are assumed. Normally that's fine. This exceptionally cold April month is of course not representative of recent years. And May continues, so far, on the same footing.

April 1 was a nice day, Facebook Marel Loonwerk

Steef has been working at Marel for more than three years now. Since last March he has been given a nice addition to his duties. Steef is the man who gets the growers on the phone to schedule their assignment with Marel.
