Part 4:

Sneak Peak California Summer Trials 2021

The California Summer Trials are around the corner. From June 23–27, 25 breeders will present their highlights at 8 locations throughout California. In the run-up to this event, FloralDaily.com will give a sneak peek at what will be on display. In several parts, the highlights per company will be presented. Today, we will present part four in which we show the highlights of Sakata, HEM Genetics.

Hem Genetics – Petunia Limbo GP
Low Grow Limbo Petunia series, nowadays a benchmark in the production of petunias from seed, is now being expanded with a new color Silver Blue. "The white in combination with the blue center and veins makes this color lavender bluish that creates a silvery effect. This new and more Limbo colors does very well in various color combinations and can be utilized as a filler in mixed containers."

This Petunia, along with more varieties of Hem Genetics will be on display in Santa Paula (15245 W. Telegraph Rd.), from June 23–27 (hours of operation 8:00 am–4:00 pm).

Sakata – Profusion Red Yellow Bicolor
Introducing the 2021 AAS Gold Medal and Fleuroselect winning, new bicolor addition to the popular Profusion series of zinnias. "This gorgeous zinnia starts the season with a bold, vibrant red center ring surrounded by golden-yellow outer petals. As the season progresses, the aging flowers morph to soft, beautiful shades of apricot, salmon, and dusty rose; bringing a plethora of color to the garden – all from one variety! Profusion Red Yellow Bicolor is perfectly matched to the now ten color Profusion series, and, like the rest of the series, provides proven garden performance through the high heat of summer with continuous impact in large containers and landscape plantings."

HilverdaFlorist – Sunflor Dianthus
One of their new varieties in their patio assortment is Sunflor. Sunflor is a versatile Dianthus series because this Dianthus can be used both indoor and outdoor. "The series is available in an extensive strong colorful assortment. The Sunflor Series flowers from Spring until late Autumn tolerates temperatures from -5 to -10 C and has compact growing habits with a short crop time. These varieties are versatile and perfect for garden, patio planters, and indoor use. Every Sunflor is a great performer. Selected varieties are a better fit for retail and are perfect for bench-run sales. You’ll recognize these varieties by the label retail combo. Within the Sunflor assortment, there are two retail combinations."

Curious about what they have more? Check out their varieties at the American Takii location in Salinas (301 Natividad Road) from June 23 to 27.
