A woman has transformed her apartment into a stunning indoor 'jungle' after years of filling her space with potted and hanging plants of all shapes and sizes.
Linh Tong, from New Zealand, bought her first houseplant in mid-2018 so she could brighten up her home with some greenery. But her peace lily quickly grew into a lush green garden, with more than 70 strong plants becoming a part of the décor. She said her plant sanctuary has since brought great joy into her life.
Her obsession with plants started three years ago when she and her partner moved into a new home with minimal décor and furniture. She started with just two plants - a peace lily and a leafy dumb cane.
"Caring for these plants helped distract myself from my depression and stress. I thought if these two plants could make me this happy, I wanted to get more," she said. "When I first started collecting plants, it was just an inexpensive way to decorate my rental apartment."
As she filled every corner of her home with a new potted plant, she noticed something refreshing and uplifting about her greenery. "Plants really do wonders for my mental health. I'm an introvert and recharge by spending time on my own," she explained. "Caring for plants helps me slow down, offer time for solitude and quiet contemplation away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
"I learned to appreciate the little things in life like how a new leaf unfurling could bring so much joy to me or the way the light casting on my plants seems so magical."
