Bucks Beautiful will be hosting 'Daffodils for Dominic' to honor late Kutz Elementary School student Dominic Liples, who passed away after a months-long battle with brain cancer in 2016.
The event will be a part of the Bulbs for Bucks flower planting campaign the organization does around the county. The Daffodil Display will feature 10,000 daffodil bulbs that will be planted in memory of Liples.
Bucks Beautiful, a Doylestown nonprofit organization that has been planting flowers around Bucks County since the late 1980s, had made plans to host the event last fall but had to postpone due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event originally would have coincided with Liples' graduation from Kutz Elementary in 2021.
According to Laurie To, Communications Manager of Bucks Beautiful, the planting will be done in partnership with Gale Nurseries of Gwynedd Valley.
"Recent donations allowed us to install 1,568 indigenous trees, support new school outdoor classrooms designed with native plantings, create beautiful plantings at our nursing homes, parks, museums, war memorials, and more," To said.
Dominic Liples passed away in 2016 after a battle with brain cancer. The Doylestown community sent an outpouring of support and kind words to the Liples family through the 'Pray for Dominic' website, which now hosts the 'Dominic's Toy Chest', a toy drive that donates toys to children at CHOP.
