In Naivasha, Kenya, Select Breeding is looking forward to welcome you to its show case at Oserian Two Lakes.
“This year, we have some great development to highlight”, Michael de Geus says. “Three years ago, we started trailing our first varieties in spray roses. Last year, we actually had our first codes, and starting from this year, we have trails running at a few growers. We hope together with growers we can develop the spray rose varieties and have the first commercial product available in the coming years."
Select Breeding is always looking for varieties that are easy to transport, to ship in high densities while staying strong and having a long shelf live once they arrive at the consumer. This goes for spray roses, but is no different for the standard assortment. “From this perspective we have yet another great development to highlight: from this year, we will have Red Bentley available. One of our customers is planting 2 hectare, but we definitely expect more to follow. In reds, it equals the best varieties on the market. Its spectacular bright red colour with a velvet shade, in combination with its sturdiness and long shelf live, explains the attention it receives from many growers.”
Thirdly, everybody should definitely come and see a variety of novelties in full bloom. “Notably No Limit and Atlantis, but for example also Camaro, a bicolor orange which we introduced last year and is now in production at one of our growers.”
