Province of Ontario supports the floriculture industry

Flowers Canada (Ontario) would like to share the great news that the province of Ontario is investing up to $50,000 to help support the flower growers of Ontario.

For FCO, this is a great opportunity to expand their truck decal program, which allows individual floral farms access to design expertise and suppliers to create and install a graphic wrap for their delivery truck or vehicle. “Many growers have expressed interest in truck-based advertising. Wrapping their delivery vehicles and turning them, effectively, into mobile billboards, is an immediate and relatively cheap way to begin advertising and brand building.” said Dejan Kristan, Marketing Director at FCO. “The intended result from this promotion would be increased consumer demand, diversification of sales channels, and reduction of ‘key man’ risk to farms that rely on a limited number of sales avenues.”

This project would facilitate the wrapping of approximately 12 branded vehicles operating in Ontario to promote recognition of the floriculture sector, drive consumer demand, build brand recognition, and encourage new retailers to carry and sell Ontario-grown flowers.

“Ontario’s flower industry is the seventh-largest agricultural sector in the province and an important contributor to our economy,” said Lisa Thompson, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. “By supporting flower growers to implement marketing initiatives like this, we are helping Ontario consumers to easily recognize and buy the beautiful varieties of locally grown flowers.”
