Laurence Thépault, UVRER:

“Recycling of nutrient solutions leads to important savings”

The nutrient solutions market has recently seen significant price increases. To save money, recycling them is more and more being considered. Laurence Thépault of UVRER, a French company that manufactures water treatment installations, explains this.

40% running costs savings through UV recycling
The water treatment devices of UVRER disinfect and eliminate potential germs and microorganisms (viruses, fungi, molds) contained in the used nutrient solution. According to Mrs. Thépault, there are several advantages to using this technology.

"Firstly, growers can save 40% on running costs through UV recycling. The nutrient solution that is not absorbed by the plant is recovered, treated by our system, and then reinjected into the process by adding 50% of the new solution for significant water and solution savings.

Secondly, the nutrient solutions can be reused at least one week after its first use with our devices. Treating nutrient solutions with UV allows safe and reliable reuse."

The UVRER water treatment systems will allow you to recycle your nutrient solutions, but to have optimal results, it's important not to exceed 50% of the drained solution mixed with the new one," she adds. "In this way, you prevent an overall contamination of your farm."

Their nutrient solution recycling systems have existed for over twenty years. "More and more customers trust our expertise, especially in East Africa."
