Traditional Mexican cuisine has made use of endemic edible flowers in its dishes for centuries.
The Mexican edible flowers that have the most presence in traditional recipe books seem to be rich in good quality protein and bioactive compounds with antioxidant activity that might be beneficial to human health.

However, to our knowledge, there is currently no information on which of these flowers the population of Mexico really knows and consumes on a regular basis. The main aim of this work was to inquire about the knowledge and consumption of Mexican edible flowers among the Mexican population.
