Myrtle rust survey for New Zealand growers

NZPPI is supporting Scion's effort to survey the plant production sector and find out more about the management of myrtle rust in plant nurseries. Please support this work by answering the survey here: https://forms.office.com/r/RP4bnWyWy2

This survey aims to gather information about how nurseries are impacted by myrtle rust and whether there are any control or mitigation measures being used. This will help Scion and NZPPI identify where to focus research and efforts on myrtle rust control in nurseries. They would like to learn more about the number of myrtle species affected, the severity of disease in nurseries, and control measures that nurseries use.

The survey is structured into three main sections that aim to gather information on:

  • What myrtle species are stocked in New Zealand nurseries.
  • What impact myrtle rust has had in New Zealand nurseries?
  • What management tools and methods are used for myrtle rust in New Zealand nurseries?
  • The work will also help NZPPI understand their members' needs for our winter workshop series.
