Roses Forever's garden roses scoop prizes

Two new garden roses from Danish rose breeding company Roses Forever have been awarded at the 70th international Rosenneuheiten-Wettbewerb 2022 in Baden-Baden, Germany, which took place earlier this week. The rose 'Why Not?' Plant'n'Relax won the Casino Baden-Baden award, and the 'Norwegian Girl' Plant'n'Relax won the silver medal. In total, 200 rose varieties competed.

'Why Not?' and 'Norwegian Girl'
Both varieties are new varieties and are planned to be introduced in autumn 2022 / spring 2023. "Why Not?' Plant'n'Relax is a T- Hybrid rose with an elegant cream rose color and well-filled big flowers, and a light fragrance. The competition showed that it is a healthy and good growing rose for the garden.

The other awarded rose, Norwegian Girl' Plant'n'Relax, is a romantic looking rose with lots of flowers and with light green leaves. "It's very good for big areas, but also a nice solitary plant and also this one is a healthy rose. In addition, bees like it, says Rosa Eskelund, breeder of the varieties.

Competition
Every year, during this time of the year, the roses that have been sent in are being judged. "The Floribunda and T-hybrids are being tested for two years and the shrub roses and climbers for three years," she explains.

Growers looking for award-winning varieties
"In addition to our own tries, this competition is a good way to see if our roses are healthy, resistant, and therefore good for the market and good for the growers," says Rosa when asking why she participates in this event every year. "On top of that, we meet a lot of international growers who are looking for roses that win such an award."

They also sent roses to Nyon in Switzerland, where two of their roses were awarded, namely the gold medal for 'Jim The Viking' Plant'n'Relax and the silver medal for Friendship Forever Plant'n'Relax.
