Claudia Munoz of online flower supply platform Fresh-o-Fair:

"Entering the US and Canada was complicated, but was worth it"

For Fresh-o-Fair, the COVID-19 pandemic was devastating and interesting at the same time, explains Claudia Munoz, CO-Founder of the company. "In Europe, everything froze, customers were canceling standing orders, it was difficult to get new ones, and we had a lot of uncertainty." To take advantage of the time, they decided to use it to strategize new opportunities. That's how they started to focus more on the United States and Canada. A good decision, as they have grown 150% in one year only and they expect this growth to continue. On top of that, growth picked up again in Europe in 2021.

Entering the US and Canada was complicated
Fresh-o-Fair is a platform that serves as a channel for the direct and sustainable trade of fresh cut flowers directly from Latin American farms to Europe and since February 2021 also to the US and Canada. Munoz about the start: "It was complicated, we didn't have as much experience as in Europe and there is more competition," said he.

So, to move forward with this project, Fresh-o-Fair decided to find its way within COVID. They reinforced the operation in the USA and Canada, and set up strategic collaboration with Sahid Nahim from New Bloom Solutions and David Kaplan from Above All Flowers.

US and Canada: 150% growth in one year
"With their help, Fresh-o-Fair was able to improve its image, make strategic changes in the brand and put together a marketing plan to keep growing. From February 2021, when we just started our operation in USA and Canada to February 2022 we have a growth of 150% and we expect this to continue," Claudia remarked.

Europe: doubled sales in 2021
During the year 2021 Germany and the rest Europe have reactivated again and business has grown there as well. "We have doubled the sales we had a year ago in 2021."

Reason for success
According to Munoz, there are two points that are very important pillars for their success. "Our customer service and the fact that we only work with sustainable farms. It is being valued by all our customers", she says. 

Ready for more
"We are excited about all this growth and we are ready for more. The important thing is not to grow fast but to grow with good foundations. We are receiving orders every day of the year at any time through the platform, also you can call or write when there are doubts."
