MNP Suntory welcomes the Japanese Minister of Agriculture in Leimuiderbrug

The breeding company MNP / Suntory welcomes the Japanese State Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Nonaka Atsushi and his delegation to the Leimuiderbrug headquarters.

When Minister Nonaka and his six-person delegation (including the interpreter) passed through the plant pioneer MNP / Suntory site gate on Tuesday, 6 September 2022, both Japanese and Dutch flags were fixed high in front of the facility giving an institutional welcome to the visitors.

MNP / Suntory staff led the visitors first to the offices and then to the greenhouse and plant pioneer experience center, where FlowerTrials 2022 was held last June, and Future Plant Trends will be held next November during week 45.

During the visit, Minister Nonaka learned from a presentation by the Head of Marketing, Communication & Trade Erwin Giezen how the paths of Moerheim New Plants and Suntory Flowers met more than 35 years ago. How do they continue to improve the world of floriculture together today? Combining superior quality genetics from Japan with deep expertise in the European floricultural market from The Netherlands. From the success of the first petunia by cuttings introduced in Europe under the name of Surfinia 35 years ago to the very first red Mandevilla, to all the innovations brought to the market, such as changing the game plan from seeds to cuttings.

Particular attention was also paid to the company's people orientation, the involvement of all employees in major company projects, and the strong relationships established at the business level, especially with the MNP / Suntory licensees and the entire chain.

The visit continued in the greenhouse and outdoor space, where the Japanese delegation got to see the practical work of MNP / Suntory, a good dose of insight into the care and passion required to run such a company. But above all, the delegation had the opportunity to see the plants that every day pass under the hands of the experts are tested and selected for their quality, performance, and superior characteristics.

An all-around visit that provides the Japanese Minister of Agriculture with an overall view of the work carried out at MNP / Suntory.
