NL: Rose grower invests in LED lighting

Last August, as many as 5,000 LED lights were installed at Van den Ende Rozen. After years of research, the company announced they found the optimal light spectrum of LED for the Red Naomi! cultivation, and that led to the decision to invest in LED lighting.

The LED lighting will partly replace the traditional SON-T lighting, but at the same time, the grower will maintain about 50% of the SON-T lighting for an optimal combination of light and heat needed to promote growth. In this way, Van den Ende Rozen can continue to generate extra heat from the SON-T installations in the winter period and achieve the same stable light sum in the summer period without producing unnecessary heat.

Van den Ende Rozen grows year-round Red Naomi! roses for the higher segment of the market on eight acres. The nursery was expanded by four acres of new construction in 2020. All greenhouses are equipped with the latest cultivation techniques, including now LED lighting.
