"This multi-tasking new Bergenia is a star", says Georg Uebelhart of Jelitto when talking about their new variety 'Snowtime". "The Bergenia cordifolia is an early spring bloomer and this variety does not only flowers from May through May, it reblooms in the autumn with the same pure white flowers, he explains.
White flowers in autumn
"It is the best in our trials and it includes known cultivars such as ’Silberlicht’. The plant has a height of 45 cm (18 inches) while flowering and are hardy plants, with a zone range of 3-8." Special about this variety is that it reblooms with the same white flowers as in spring. "Many other white varieties bloom pink in the warmer months." And according to Uebelhart, the glossy green leathery mouse-ear shaped foliage is perfect for fall-winter flower arrangements.
In the garden
"Bergenia ’Snowtime’ thrives with good drainage and positioned in full to part sun. More shade is needed in hot summer climates. If given what it likes, it will reward you with seasons of snow-white delight."

According to Uebelhart, Snowtime’ is perfect for spring and autumn garden center sales. "On top of that, it is also perfect for seasonal container plantings, and will continue to support the pollinating community well into the fall."
