NL: Aardwarmte Vogelaer intends to expand with a second geothermal installation

Aardwarmte Vogelaer, a Dutch geothermic company, intends to develop a second geothermal installation to provide 16 more horticultural businesses with geothermal heat. This expansion enables these new customers to make their energy supply more sustainable and therefore the cultivation of their products as well.

Location Arckelweg
The second installation will be placed next to the first geothermal installation along the Arckelweg in Poeldijk, The Netherlands. This purpose was already taken into account during the construction activities in 2021. Aardwarmte Vogelaer already supplies heat to 19 businesses and is set to supply heat to over 400 houses in the future residential area Westmade Noord in Monster.

Environmental permit
For this expansion, Aardwarmte Vogelaer has applied for an Environmental Permit at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. On December 21st, 2022, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate published the draft decision of the Environmental Permit in the door-to-door papers of municipality Westland. From that moment on, for six weeks stakeholders are offered the opportunity to submit their views regarding this draft decision.

Planning activities
In March 2023, the preparatory work will commence at the area along Arckelweg and mid-2024 the first geothermal heat could be supplied, providing all activities go according to plan.

Communication with surrounding environment
Aardwarmte Vogelaer maintains contact with local residents regarding the intended expansion and planning of activities. The residents in a slightly wider radius toward Poeldijk, The Hague and Honselersdijk will be invited for an environmental consult in the beginning of 2023. The progress can be followed via the website and social media. Anyone who is interested can register for a news update. To maintain contact with the environment and enable communication, Aardwarmte Vogelaer has appointed an environment and communication manager. Her name is Carola van Kester and she can be reached, even during the permit process already, through phone (+31 6 26 05 88 65) and e-mail (info@aardwarmtevogelaer.nl).
