New, reinforced tension cover for silos developed

DL Plastics has plenty of experience providing durable tension covers to many sectors. That led to this Dutch company developing such a hood for the horticultural industry.

"We reinforce the corrugated sheet water silo's top layer with a galvanized tube, thus, ensuring it can withstand snow and strong winds. Adhering the tension cover's slope to the silo edge makes the structure strong and reliable," Bas van der Elst explains.

Materials used
They use high-quality PVC-reinforced material for the hood. Depending on the country and region, DL Plastics decides how thick it should be and how much UV radiation the material must withstand.

Since the pole and base plate are plastic, no metal pieces touch the water. And the specially designed HDPE base plate means the pole can be safely placed on the existing liner. One or more lockable maintenance holes, inspection hatches, and prefab shafts are welded in.

The covers are delivered standard, with a 2.74-1.500m diameter, but larger sizes are possible. "These are reliable up to 30+ meters," Bas concludes.
