Skagit Valley tulips begin to bloom after late start to season

Earlier this month, tulip fields were nothing but stems of green. But the tulips at RoozenGaarde farm are finally beginning to bloom.

Brent Roozen said the farm started to see more colors from the tulips over the past couple of days. He said it has been difficult dealing with the late bloom because of how much they depend on tourism around the area.

Roozen told KOMO News they've had to be patient with this being their latest bloom on record and said the weather has also not been the kindest, which added more pressure to their business.

"We do about 90% of our revenue during the spring bloom, so when it gets pushed back, and you're slow, you're not anywhere where you hope to be at this point, so hopefully, we'll catch up," said Roozen.
