Proven Winners on Heart to Heart 'Rain or Shine' Caladium:

"It adds a unique tropical flair to the garden or landscape"

As tropical plants continue to trend in outdoor spaces across North America, Proven Winners is pleased to introduce Heart to Heart® 'Rain or Shine' Caladium. "This foolproof addition to the Proven Winners Heart to Heart program adds a unique tropical flair to the garden or landscape," John Gaydos of Proven Winners. In this Q&A article, he explains more about this variety and how it fits the market.

What's the difference between the new introduction and what is currently on the market?
"This variety is one of the most unique and distinct caladiums ever offered. Its impressive vigor and dramatic bronze-pink leaf color with black veining make it hard to beat."

Where does this new introduction fit?
"In the sales area: Increased foliage color range, outstanding vigor, and a more upright growth habit will make Rain or Shine a logical endcap or focal point within the Heart to Heart Caladium display."

"In the garden: With Heart to Heart Rain or Shine caladium's sun tolerance and upright, tall stature, this plant will fit right into most landscapes and play the role of a thriller in container recipes."

Does it replace an existing variety?
"No."

Is this new item a replacement or a line extension/continuation of a series?
"This addition will extend the Heart to Heart Caladium Program."

Are there any differences in cultural requirements?
"Rain or Shine Caladium is known for its fast growth rate compared to other caladiums in the program, sprouting quickly from a dormant bulb. There are no special growing requirements; however, 'Rain or Shine' will be one of the first Heart to Heart caladiums to sprout and finish."

What new opportunities does this variety present?
"The Heart to Heart Caladium program by Proven Winners is quickly expanding. The dramatic and distinctive coloring of 'Rain or Shine' will easily stand out on grower and retail benches. Good sun tolerance makes this variety very versatile for home gardeners. And growers will love its ability to sprout and finish quickly in production."
