Floranova to showcase new and flagship varieties at FlowerTrials 2023

During the FlowerTrials, from June 13-16, many new, existing and potential varieties will be presented at different locations throughout the Netherlands and in Germany. Floranova, a specialised breeder of flower seed varieties for the professional bedding and pot plant sector, is one of the participating breeding companies and together with Syngenta Flowers, they will be highlighting their latest innovations at the Syngenta location in de Lier, the Netherlands. In this article, we share three of the highlights that will be on display at Floranova.

Begonia Bossa Nova® Night Fever Rosso
Night Fever Rosso joins Papaya as the second variety in the Night Fever series. "It has all of the flower power you would expect from Bossa Nova Begonias, but with beautiful contrasting dark foliage. The vibrant red flowers and rich bronze foliage create a truly dramatic combination for retailers and consumers alike and will keep flowering all Summer long in hanging baskets and containers, even in partial shade." Just like the rest of the Bossa Nova varieties, Night Fever Rosso thrives in a warm environment.

Sweet Duet
Another highlight that will be on display at Floranova is the highly fragrant Sweet Duet. "It boasts improved doubleness and flower size compared to the competition, with attractive colour combinations. And the strong stems with good branching habit makes Sweet Duet a great option for late Spring and early Summer sales in larger containers and premium formats. However, Sweet Duet is not just ideal for Spring and Summer, it is perfect for Autumn sales too as plants build up a strong base before the flower induction in Summer."

Hunky Dory

"As an F1 hybrid Delphinium grandiflorum, Hunky Dory produces earlier flowering and improved uniformity vs the competition", says Catherine. "And it features improved germination compared with OP types", she adds. Hunky Dory is available in 3 colours; white blue and sky blue which display an ocean of colour. " Good vigour and branching, with strong stems makes Hunky Dory an great option for larger pot sales using 3 plants per pot, to create a premium item for retailers."
