After 46 years of working in the flower and plant business, Wil Nederpel (62) was already halfway thinking about an early retirement, but things are different now. An old connection from the industry, Flamingo Personeelsdiensten, approached him, asking if he would like to use his knowledge and skills for the organization. "The second generation is about to enter the company; they have wonderful references within the sector, and the connection between us is good."

Flamingo has been doing business for many years with parties such as Sion, Kwekerij Van Duinhoven, OK Plant, Together2Grow, and Tomatenkwekerij t Woudt, renowned names in the sector who are happy to rely on Flamingo as far as their temps are concerned. "I have also worked in the temping sector in the past and was a kind of competitor then. And even then, I knew that organization was upstanding. They know what they are doing because everywhere you come across them, they are well regarded."
The company is run by the Bagci brothers. Owner Ali has two sons, young twentysomethings, who both work in the company and are now in the process of gradually climbing up the ranks. With Wil, they are bringing in a 'rock in the trade' with decades of experience and a large network, who, for his part, is eager to use this to establish news lines.
Fresh produce
Finally, it is perhaps just as well that Wil got a call because really sitting still is not for him. "My aim is to leave something nice behind, make new contacts, and expand the business a bit," he says. Besides clients in horticulture, there may also be opportunities in fresh produce, a sector in which I am less well known but which I would like to delve into more in the near future."
