Royal FloraHolland encourages innovation and sustainability, so it launched the Greenovation Award for the best sustainable product. This year, companies have again submitted wonderful products and concepts; the best have been nominated for the Greenovation Award 2023.
The sector jury is pleased with all the submissions and has, after much deliberation, chosen six interesting candidates. This jury determines 50% of the final assessment. The public - who can vote online ahead of the award event - decides the other 50%. Here are this year's nominees; you can vote for your favorites here.

How many plants will fit in my garden's border? Which plants go well together? How will my border look in each season? Those things are not always easy to visualize. That is why Hoogeveen Plants BV developed the My Perfect Garden app.

Potworms are a major issue for Phalaenopsis cultivation and the whole chain. A consortium of four companies - Levoplant, Ter Laak, Opti-flor, and Solvent Engineering - has therefore developed Potweb: the way to control potworms in Phalaenopsis orchids in an eco-friendly way.
Gova BV's peat-free Laurus Nobilis
Extracting peat, used in substrates, releases a lot of CO2. Plus, peat will run out at some point too. In the chain, various efforts are being made to reduce the use of peat. Gova BV began growing laurels in a 100% peat-free substrate in 2020. It can now supply multi-year crops: 100% peat-free Laurus Nobilis.
Paletti Growers Cooperative's Triple Thrive Data
Transitioning to a more suitable world requires the floriculture sector, too, to use water, energy, and crop protection products more sparingly. The Triple Thrive Data concept, a unique data collection system for cultivation optimization, can provide the solution.
Stolk Brothers' peat-free anthurium
Many crops traditionally use peat substrates. It offers many advantages but is terrible for the environment. As mentioned, its extraction emits plenty of CO2, and it is a non-renewable resource. So Stolk Brothers now cultivates its entire potted anthuriums range, 100% 'peat free.'
Paardekooper Group (Dillewijn Zwapak / Broekhof)'s Eco Flowerbox / FECT
The Eco Flowerbox / FECT is the sustainable answer to potted flowers and plant packaging. It is specially designed for transport on Danish trolleys but can also be used on other load carriers. The material is 100% recycled plastic and is fully circular.
