The two gerbera companies from Kwintsheul (CON Heulweg BV) and Maasdijk (Batist Oranjepolder) are preparing for the future and will continue together under the name FlowerHarmony from January 1, 2024.
This merger will create a company of almost 9 hectares, divided over three growing locations in the field of mini gerberas, making FlowerHarmony the second largest member of the growers' association Colours of Nature.
Roy Batist of Batist Oranjepolder BV: "With all the developments our sector is facing in terms of energy, labor, and regulations, we see added value in knowledge and joining forces."
Both companies are members of the growers' association Colours of Nature, a cooperative of seven gerbera growers. The cooperative has a total area of 35 hectares of production and focuses on retail and large-scale wholesale.
Wouter van Dijk of Colours of Nature (CON) Heulweg BV: "We have been working together through the growers' association for more than 15 years and therefore know each other very well. I am a real grower, and I want to be able to focus on that. This merger allows us to divide tasks better and focus more on the things we are good at."
With the merger, the company also wants to raise its profile as an attractive employer. The first result of this has already been achieved. After the sale of his company in Made, Twan Breugem will, in fact, join the management board, which will allow the division of tasks to be even more specialized.
Twan Breugem: "On November 1, my company was sold to a neighbor. I saw too little future perspective for my company to invest heavily. Besides, running a horticultural company alone is very intensive, but by continuing together with Roy and Wouter, I see plenty of perspectives to work on in the future."
