Focus on trends during Dutch Lily Days

The annual Dutch Lily Days event is the best place to review firsthand the latest trends in lily land. Running from June 4 to 7, 2024, the spotlight will be turned on the newcomers in the assortment. We focus, in particular, on pollen-free lilies, more resistant varieties, and unscented ones. The participants are looking forward to showing the visitors the novelties they have on offer.

For the past few years, there has been a great interest in double-bloomed lilies. These stunning flowers are clear winners and favourites among consumers, with their profusion of petals, some even resembling peonies. There is also an increasing demand for pollen-free varieties that the breeders have paid attention to.

Scented or not
Pollen is not the only aspect that consumers would like to see improved in lilies; their pervasive scent is not always appreciated. That is why more breeding work has been done to create less heavily scented and unscented novelties. But as there are also still markets that demand a scent, the scented lily will remain widely available.

Resilience and sustainability
Resistance is another topic that will undoubtedly come up at the Dutch Lily Days. Sustainably cultivated flowers are a must in modern society, so breeders are working hard to improve the resilience of lilies. In the coming years, major advances are expected, and it will become apparent if the sector gets there in time.

Participants
The talks about these and other topics can be conducted at the start of June with the 13 participants in the Dutch Lily Days 2024. Interested parties are welcome at P.
