Cambodia: Orchid conservation center's expansion faces challenges

After five years of conservation and biodiversity research, the "Sok An Phnom Kulen Orchid Research and Conservation Centre" in Siem Reap province, the only orchid research facility in the Kingdom, is now poised to expand its research and facilities.

However, the site is currently facing challenges due to inadequate funding, technology, and water supplies during the dry session.

Situated within the Jayavarman-Norodom Phnom Kulen National Park, the current Sok An Phnom Kulen Orchid Research and Conservation Centre stands as the sole orchid research facility in the nation.

Encompassing an area of 2,020 hectares within Siem Reap province's Banteay Srei district, including a 31.09-hectare orchid dome zone, the center lies approximately 60 kilometers from Siem Reap City.
