In May 2024, 148,000 cut flowers were imported into the Rostov region from Lithuania, including carnations, roses, gerberas, hydrangeas, and other varieties. All batches of flowers underwent phytosanitary quarantine control, and no quarantine objects were detected.
From January 1 to June 5, 2024, 101,365 cut flowers were imported into Udmurtia from various countries such as the Netherlands, Ecuador, Kenya, Italy, Germany, Spain, Ethiopia, and Israel. Last year, during this period, there were no flower imports into the region.
On June 5, 2024, phytosanitary control was conducted in Udmurtia on a batch of 46,795 cut flowers, including chrysanthemums, roses, carnations, and lilies, originating from the Netherlands, Ecuador, and Kenya. Analysis showed the absence of quarantine objects, and the flowers were cleared for sale.
However, on June 6, 2024, in the Omsk region, a harmful quarantine organism was detected in a batch of 500 Chinese-origin carnations imported from Kazakhstan. The contaminated flowers were found to be infested with the western (California) flower thrips. To prevent the spread of the pest, the contaminated part of the cargo was destroyed by incineration under the supervision of regional Rosselkhoznadzor specialists.
Since the beginning of 2024, Rosselkhoznadzor has monitored over 1.3 million imported cut flowers.
