UK: Squire’s Shepperton to host rose show again

Squire's Garden Centre in Shepperton will once again host a leading rose show on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June, as part of the weekend's Rose Festival event, taking place at Squire's Shepperton.

Returning to Squire's for the 47th year, the free show is hosted by Squire's in partnership with The Rose Society UK, of which Colin Squire OBE (Chairman Emeritus, Squire's Garden Centres) is President. The festival weekend will present an amazing opportunity to enjoy stunning displays of roses by an impressive list of expert growers who will be traveling from across the country to display their roses at the two-day event.

The Show will take place in a marquee in the Plant Area at Squire's Shepperton, where a range of exquisite roses and arrangements can be indulged in, along with the intoxicating smell of the nation's favorite flower. The Rose Society's experts will be on hand on Saturday afternoon, following judging, and all day Sunday to offer advice and expert tips to visitors.

Rose Society Patron, award-winning garden designer and horticulturalist, Adam Frost, will be in attendance on Saturday 29 June*, signing books, chatting to visitors, and answering questions. In addition, over the weekend a festival atmosphere can be enjoyed, with food and drink tastings, as well as music from the saxophone octet, Saxcelerate, playing a range of crowd-pleasing tunes to match the celebratory atmosphere.

Colin Squire OBE, Chairman Emeritus, Squire's Garden Centres, comments: "We are delighted to host this significant national rose show at Squire's Shepperton. Making this a celebratory weekend of such a wonderful flower, the Rose Festival demonstrates our commitment to horticulture and our support, and encouragement, of growers from across the country. Many of the exhibitors are hugely knowledgeable and skilled growers with years of experience. But the show also encourages new growers, which ensures the continued success and popularity of the most popular flower in Britain, and throughout the world. I would urge visitors to come along to this free event and to take a little time to enjoy and appreciate a stunning array of arrangements as well as displays of single rose blooms. It really will be quite breathtaking."

Visitors will be able to enjoy 15% off roses all weekend (Squire's Shepperton only) as well as floral art displays from Walton & Weybridge Flower Club.

The Rose Society UK promotes and stimulates interest in growing roses as well as educating and improving people's knowledge of roses. Colin Squire is a recipient of the highest award bestowed by the society, the prestigious Dean Hole Medal, awarded to Colin by The Rose Society UK in 2021, in recognition of Colin's work with and love of roses. Having commenced in 1977, The National Rose Show has been held at Squire's Shepperton for 47 years.
