What to expect at IPM Essen 2025

From 28 January to 31 January 2025, IPM Essen will once again be hosted in Essen, Germany. This event serves as a central platform for professionals across the green industry to exchange knowledge, explore innovations, and strengthen business connections.

"IPM Essen remains a significant meeting point for horticulture professionals, bringing together exhibitors and visitors from all continents and covering the entire sector—including plants, technology, floristry, and garden features—the fair offers an unparalleled opportunity to discover the latest products, solutions, and trends."

More than 1,400 exhibitors from around 50 countries will present a wide array of innovations, ranging from machinery and automation systems to new plant varieties developed through "pioneering" breeding technologies.

Focus on forums and specialized areas
Targeted forums enhance the program for IPM Essen 2025 and highlight key developments within the industry. Several specialized areas will provide attendees with focused insights and actionable knowledge.

New Grower Forum in Hall 2: This will feature expert-led discussions and best practices for efficient, sustainable plant production. In addition, guided tours to young plant producers are offered to the trade visitors.

Innovation Centre for Horticultural Technology in Hall 4: A hub for the latest advancements in horticultural technology, featuring live demonstrations of greenhouse equipment and digital tools. A forum invites visitors and exhibitors to participate in panel talks and presentations.

FDF-World in Hall 5: Top florists from around the world, live demonstrations and innovative floral trends—the FDF-World is the place to be for creativity and inspiration in modern floristry.

IPM Discovery Center in Hall 5: Retail innovations for the green sector focusing on market trends and POS concepts combining creative inspiration with practical solutions for boosting sales.

Landgard-Ordertage | Frühjahrsedition in Hall 1A: For the first time, Landgard will offer retailers access to spring product collections and promotional opportunities.

Meeting Point Climate Trees and Perennials in Hall 6: The starting point for tours, guiding visitors through the fair, highlighting eco-friendly innovations such as climate trees and shrubs, as well as sustainable practices across the entire sector.

Celebrating excellence in horticulture
IPM Essen will also host industry awards. These include:

The AIPH International Grower of the Year 2025 Award Ceremony is on 28 January. It is an evening gala event celebrating best practices in horticultural production by ornamental production nurseries around the globe. This year, there are ten finalists, and the winner will be announced by award host Michael Perry, better known as Mr Plant Geek, and Sirekit Mol, Head of Commercial Operations for Beekenkamp Plants BV.

The Show Your Colours Award will be presented in Hall 8 in cooperation with Bizz Holland. It celebrates exceptional marketing concepts for plants, encouraging creative storytelling.

The Innovation Showcase will be located in Hall 4 at the Infocenter Gartenbau. It will present the latest plant novelties, looking at plant breeding and new varieties. The winners are announced during the opening ceremony on the first day of the fair.

The Green Cities Europe Award in Hall 7 will spotlight projects from European cities that focus on incorporating green products and sustainable practices into urban planning. It highlights the role of horticulture in creating greener, more sustainable urban environments. In 2025, IPM ESSEN will host the award ceremony for the first time.
