Asia's continuing innovations in horticulture make it a region of interest for the wider global industry. During the AIPH Industry Conference on 11th February 2025 in Chiang Rai, Thailand, AIPH will explore developments in ornamental horticulture in Asia, including speakers from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and China.
This Conference forms part of the AIPH Spring Meeting 2025, organized by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) with the support of Host Partners, Chiang Rai, the Thailand Department of Agriculture, the Horticultural Science Society of Thailand, and the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Headline Sponsor Biblo.
Speakers for the Conference include Mr Kasan Chavanapanit, Managing Director of G.G.D. Trading (Thailand) Co., Ltd., who has 25 years of experience in the production of ornamental plants in Thailand. In his presentation, he will share his insights as an orchid exporter both internationally and domestically.
From Vietnam, Mr. Ngoc Thanh Nguyen, Vice Chair of the Dalat Flower Association, will outline developments for growers there and how they are tackling the challenges and opportunities for increasing sales, both for the domestic and export markets.
Ms Lin Qiaoling, who is joining with a perspective from China, is the Chairwoman of Beijing Huaxiang Green Garden Group Co., Ltd. and Vice President of the Beijing Flower Association. Her presentation will introduce China's flower retail market, considering market size, consumption channels, consumer groups, and future consumption trends.
Finally, attendees will hear from Mr Sean William Salim from Indonesia, founder and content creator for Onlyplants – a YouTube channel dedicated to ornamental plants. Having transitioned into horticulture during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sean's platform has grown to 200,000 subscribers. During his presentation, he will explore the challenges in the industry in Indonesia and the opportunities presented by digital platforms.
Commenting on the conference, AIPH Secretary General Tim Briercliffe said "South East Asia has a strong and dynamic market for plants and flowers and is playing an increasingly important role in the global supply chain. We have assembled this high-caliber group of speakers to enable us to understand this market in-depth and to help to see how this will drive the future of our industry."
