Two new ajuga varieties primed to hit the market

Sneak peeks of two brand-new ajuga varieties have been announced by Terra Nova Nurseries: Ajuga NOVA 'Pink' and Ajuga NOVA 'White'. The 'Pink' variety presents violet and bright pink blooms, complemented by deep green foliage that often develops a rich purple flush. The 'White' variety is graced with glossy, deep green leaves and an abundance of icicle-like flowers.

Nova White

The latest ajugas by Terra Nova are easy-to-grow varieties that exhibit fast, trailing growth habits. NOVA 'Pink' and 'White' are hardy perennials that flourish in full sun, partial shade or full shade with moist, well-drained soil, making them versatile choices for groundcovers, edges or container plantings. The plant duo blooms from June through July, forming weed-smothering mats anywhere they are planted.

Nova Pink

NOVA 'Pink' grows most actively in summer, extending up to 6" in height with a 17" spread and producing flowers that reach 10" tall. NOVA 'White' reaches the same 6" height and 17" spread but features slightly shorter flowers at 8". USDA Hardiness Zones for 'Pink' are 3-10, while 'White' is well-suited for zones 5-9.

Finishing growers should allow both 'Pink' and 'White' to dry slightly between waterings in the greenhouse. Finish times from liners to 4-inch pots for Terra Nova's newest ajuga varieties are approximately four to six weeks, while transitioning to 1-gallon pots take eight to ten weeks.

Terra Nova Nurseries has created "Plant Profile" pages and "Grower Recipes" specific to these breakthrough varieties, so growers interested in orders can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements and other insights provided by the breeding team.
