Inside Pj Dave’s grading standards

Looking at the grading standards for premium roses

In over 20 years of exporting premium roses, Pj Dave Flower Group has learned that beauty alone doesn't define quality—consistency does. For buyers managing high-volume floral supply, reliable grading means fewer rejections, better margins, and stronger trust with their own customers.

Every rose that leaves Pj Dave Flower Group farms goes through a structured grading process, where they are sorted by stem length, bud size, and color uniformity and structure.

Each bunch is tagged and checked against the company's internal benchmarks, because that is the difference between a strong first impression and a rejected order lies in these details.

Bud size standards backed by variety
At Pj Dave, bud size is clearly defined, not estimated. The roses fall into three main categories.

  1. Super Super Premium (6+) These are our largest, most luxurious blooms. Rhodos 3.0, Ever Red, Mandala.
  2. Premium (5.5+) Balanced in size and structure—ideal for retail and bouquet work. Athena, Alba, Deep Purple, Deep Silver.
  3. Intermediate (4.5+) Versatile, consistent performers in mixed arrangements. Belle Rose, La Belle, Moon Walk, Madam Pink.

This grading clarity helps clients plan assortments, set pricing tiers, and confidently manage large-volume orders.

Built for scale without compromising precision
With over 50 rose varieties in daily production, maintaining grading precision at scale is essential. Here's how Pj Dave Flower Group does it.

Trained graders assess every stem for uniformity
Pre-cooling protocols ensure firmness and inspection-readiness
Protective handling minimizes bruising and mechanical damage
Vase life testing verifies product performance beyond export

These systems allow us to consistently deliver intermediate, premium, and super-premium roses to specification.

At Pj Dave, the goal isn't just to grow roses—it's to deliver a product that arrives exactly as expected. The grading process is how the company protects your brand, reduces your risk, and builds consistency into every shipment.
