As of May 1, Diogo Elias, who had served as Senior Vice President of Avianca Cargo since 2023, has taken on the role of CEO of the company.
In his new position, Elias will lead Avianca Cargo's strategy for growth, strengthening, and innovation, ensuring that the company maintains the value proposition that has solidified its status as one of the region's leading air cargo carriers. He will drive key initiatives such as fleet expansion, operational network enhancement, investment in digitalization, and the development of new markets.
Additionally, under Elias' leadership, Avianca Cargo will remain focused on operational excellence and the implementation of high standards, which have earned the company recognition as one of the top six cargo airlines worldwide. Avianca Cargo operates more than 220 dedicated cargo flights and over 1,400 flights with cargo capacity in the hold.
Elias has over 20 years of experience in strategic, leadership, and commercial roles, as well as a strong academic background in Business and Operations Management, including an MBA from the University of Michigan.
