At the show, they presented new barbatus of Selecta one and according to Briceno, the reactions from the Russian customers are positive. “There seems to be a trend towards smaller headed flowers in larger bunches.” Currently, Turflor is expanding their farm in Colombia, more on this later in FloralDaily.

Meeuwes Brouwer Agricultural Councellor for Moscow, Russia and Kazachstand and Renee Jones-Bos Ambassador in Moscow were present at the opening of the show. Jones-Bos told in her speech that Russia is a very important market for Dutch plants and flowers and that the export volumes have grown over the last year, by 13 percent. Also the Dutch are becoming more important in terms of sharing knowledge and techniques due to Russian’s self sufficient drive. The export of Dutch starting material has grown by 25 percent over the last year.

Unfortunately, transport regulations from Kenya have changed, which is disadvantages for this rose farm. Patel tells us that the freight is now based on volume weight instead of kilo weight.
