FloraHolland examines feasibility of an Experience Center
FloraHolland and Waterdrinker have asked VolkerWessels' company KondorWessels Projecten in collaboration with Impeerium project developers, OeverZaaijer architects and Jora Vision to conduct a feasibility study. The preliminary name for the Experience Center is Floriworld.
Floriworld must become an educational attraction at which the world of flowers and plants can be experienced and lived in a unique way. Some 6,000 square meters will be designed as an iconic tulip building extending up 30 meters. It is a complex which will encourage 350,000 local and foreign visitors to become enthusiastic about the beautiful world of horticulture. Using 3D-technology, virtual reality and the frequent use of real flowers and plants, a world is presented in which the Netherlands is the market leader.
VolkerWessels' company KondorWessels Projecten has been tasked with finding partners and developers (public and private) in the coming months who would like to invest in Floriworld. This should culminate in a realistic and feasible recommendation plus business plan. The final decision about approving the project and which partners/investers to approach will be taken in the second half of 2015. Floriworld is an initiative for which FloraHolland and its partners have been applauded by regional companies and local governments.
On the basis of the FloraHolland 2020 strategy, the Management Board of FloraHolland concluded that an Experience Center can support the realisation of one of the main objectives of the strategy: Getting more consumers to spend more on flowers and plants.
