Phase 1 of Floriday auctioning rollout begins

Together with Floriday, Royal FloraHolland is building a single digital platform for the entire floriculture sector. A future-proof approach to auctions is part of that. For this reason, outdated systems such as Remote Buying (KOA) are being phased out step by step, while two new apps are being developed on Floriday. This ensures that users have a clear overview of all trading in one place. Phase 1 of the rollout of auctioning via Floriday is now starting, during which the necessary preparations will be made.

Why? Crucial for continuity
The current Remote Buying system (KOA) has been in use since the late 1990s. This technology is outdated and comes with limitations and risks, such as the possibility of malfunctions or system failures. Floriday's infrastructure is built using new technology that works seamlessly via a web browser. Thanks to further digitalisation, new services and functionalities can be implemented more quickly. This ensures that the floriculture marketplace remains strong and reliable in the future.

How? Auctions via Floriday with 2 apps
If buyers wish to buy at the clock in future, they will use two apps on Floriday.

RFH Pre-Auction is used for viewing and marking the clock supply. Over the past year, clock buyers have been introduced to this step by step, allowing them to get used to the new way of working in advance. Celdomy's experiences with RFH Pre-Auction can be read here for further insight.

RFH Auction will become the space on Floriday where bidding on the auction clock takes place. Work is currently ongoing to develop new user-friendly designs for the clock, for both dealing room and laptop users. Various tests have already been carried out together with buyers. There is strong, positive engagement among buyers who are contributing to testing, highlighting that collaboration is key to making this a success.

Transition from KOA to Floriday in 3 phases
The transition will not take place all at once, but step by step and in a controlled manner across three phases in order to minimise risks. This approach ensures that trading continues without disruption and that buyers are well prepared.

Phase 1 focuses on the preparation of all accounts and settings in Floriday. Phase 2 involves transferring the technology behind KOA to Floriday, while bidding still takes place via KOA. Phase 3 completes the transition, with purchasing and marking moved to the apps on Floriday.

Prepare for auctioning via Floriday
In the coming period, all administrators in Floriday, who are the main users per organisation, will receive further information on the specific steps required of them. During phase 1, the most important requirement is that all buyers have a personal Floriday account and that it is linked to a KOA workspace.

Effective guidance and support
Royal FloraHolland recognises that working with new systems can raise questions. For this reason, effective guidance, clear step-by-step explanations and appropriate support are provided. This approach ensures that all users are well prepared and able to work with confidence in the Floriday auction apps in the future.
