"India: "Heliconia has commercial potential in Goa"
Thangam was speaking at a heliconia day celebration at ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa, which had over 90 participants in attendance. The participants comprised students from science and other faculties from Quepem, Sakhali, Ponda, Mapusa, Agriculture college as well as progressive farmers, officers from forestry department, agriculture department and flower enthusiasts from across the state.
A few farmers are growing some varieties of this flower, prices of which range from 75-100 per piece to over 300 per piece. The crop can be grown in coconut orchards.
