Final part:

Sneak peek California Spring Trials

The California Spring Trials are almost upon us, and the participants are ready to welcome their visitors. Over the last weeks, FloralDaily highlighted one novelty from the participating companies. Today, in this final edition we will show the top products from 5 companies in Northern California, USA.

The California Spring Trials is a week-long event held at various locations throughout California, from April 9-14. Breeders, growers and suppliers will showcase their newest varieties and products.

Schoneveld Breeding - Mini Winter in Fuji color

This is the new Mini Winter variety of Schoneveld Breeding. This cyclamen is different to the other cylamen in the Mini Winter series as it has a different color, the so-called Fuji colors. These cyclamen have all the well-known plant and bloom characteristics as the ‘normal’ Super Series variety, but with unique variations in color. There is a special effect in the tips of the blooms, they fade out to white: just like the snow-covered tip of Mount Fuji. This color was first discovered by a cyclamen breeder in Japan – so it just had to be named after Japan’s famous mountain. The Fuji colors are introduced in the Super Series Compact, Verano, Allure and Macro series. (Visit Schoneveld Breeding to see more novelties Grolink at 4107 West Gonzales Road, Oxnard, CA 93036. Gediflora - Vega Red

Gediflora is introducing the new variety Vega Red in 2017. This decorative variety will flower in early September, has large burgundy flowers with excellent color retention and shelf life. Vega Red has medium vigor and is suitable for any pot size. It has a good round habit and flexibility. (Visit Gediflora to see more novelties Grolink at 4107 West Gonzales Road, Oxnard, CA 93036. Green Fuse Botanicals - Saliva splendens "Grandstand Red-Lipstick Pink"

The Saliva splendens "Grandstand Red-Lipstick Pink" is one of three new offerings in the Saliva Splendens Grandstand series of Green Fuse Botanicals. The plants in this series are early to bloom and will continuously develop new flower spikes throughout the growing season. The multiple flower spikes will display a mass of color on a compact plant frame, good for use in the landscape and in containers. Garden height is 15” to 20”. The other novelties in this series are the Blue Bicolor, and Salmon. (Visit Green Fuse Botanicals to see more novelties at 15245 Telegraph Road, Santa Paula, CA 93060. Ameriseed - Hotunia F1 Radiance Grape

The Hotunia F1 Radiance Grape is a novelty from Ameriseed. This variety is part of the Hotunia Radiance series, which is the first F1 hybrid trailing Petunia to be bred and produced under tropical hot & humid conditions. Radiance has a mounding plant habit with large flowers in 10 colors. A heat loving plant with good disease tolerance. Royal Van Zanten - Blue Bayou

The Blue Bayou is a new aster variety in the Showmakers series from Royal Van Zanten. Novelties in the other aster series of Royal van Zanten, called ‘Tiara’ , will also be on display at the Trials. Their Aster series features plants covered with daisy-like flowers in a wide range of intense blue-violet colors. These varieties do well all on their own in large pots on the patio and are also perfect for combining with other flower varieties.
