NL: Kapiteyn plans for Purple Pride acreage expansion

Purple Pride is a hyacinth variety that is suitable for both forcing as well as for dry sales, says Tim Kapiteyn from Breezand. The grower is cultivating 1 hectare of this variety, and thanks to the good growth properties - the variety would, among other things, have an excellent root formation and little susceptibility to 'gray' (hyacinth mosaic virus) and 'soft rot'. The interest in Purple Pride is growing domestically and abroad. Kapiteyn therefore hopes to increase the acreage and numbers in the near future.
