US (FL): Celebrity proposal involves 4,000 red preserved roses

Victoria’s Secret model, Devon Windsor got engaged in the most surprising way. Her new fiancé, Jonathan Barbara, popped the question while they were flying in a private plane over a deserted beach with a message that read, “Marry me?” spelled with over 4,000 red preserved roses.

This Brides magazine-exclusive was planned by J Group Events and Jennifer Ashley Productions using preserved roses supplied by Jet Fresh Flower Distributors in Miami, Fla. El Marco Rojo captured these images provided on Windsor’s Facebook page.

According to Brides, “Windsor boarded the private plane, believing she was flying to a photoshoot, when her fiancé popped the question.” Watched their official proposal video produced by Lifestyle Production Group.

Behind the scenes
Barbara shared exclusively with Brides what went on behind the scenes as he planned the proposal of a lifetime in less than a week.

According to Brides, Barbara wasn’t supposed to get her ring until July, and had been asking her agent for a weekend that she would be available. All of a sudden he was given a window, but it was for the following weekend, “Luckily I got the ring ahead of time, and was just scrambling to plan all of that in just seven days, said Barbara” The Bahamas is a special place in this beach-loving couple’s lives, so he knew the islands would have to factor in to the proposal.

Planning this destination proposal in less than a week was a job that J Group Events and Jennifer Ashley Productions knew they could handle.

According to Brides, “Jassi Lekach Antebi of J Group Events and Jennifer Ashley of Jennifer Ashley Productions helped pull off the proposal, with the big moment taking place on the sandy shores of Exumas.”

Along with preparing a romantic setting for the couple after the proposal, they had “Marry Me?” written in rose-covered letters on the sand.

Preserved roses

Antebi of J Group Events chose red preserved roses instead of real ones to create the letters in such a short timeframe. The preserved roses were already bloomed upon arrival, and therefore didn’t require any additional time to hydrate before performing. Allowing for immediate arranging. The extended lifespan on preserved roses also gave them reassurance that the roses weren’t going to wilt before the main event, either.

Since this was a destination proposal, another benefit to using preserved roses is the efficiency for traveling. Preserved roses don’t require any water nor flower foam (oasis) to be arranged. Therefore, the weight of the display is significantly reduced making it easier to travel to far destinations.

Over 4,000 preserved roses were required to make the text visible from the sky. Given the timeframe to prepare for this order, they used a combine mixture of the “Ines” Colombian preserved roses as well as Ecuadorian preserved roses which both measure approximately 3.8-4.5 cm in diameter.
