Visser Horti Systems announces another breakthrough in the automatic transplanting of cuttings. Dümmen Orange revolutionized the proven AutoStix concept by applying Basewell technology to the open source strip system.
Due to a state-of-the-art rooting technology in the AutoStix strip it is now possible to ship rooted cuttings from off-shore production locations to growers. This concept offers several advantages: a simplified process, off-shore rooting, optimization of space in the greenhouse, and root protection during shipping.
“The innovative Basewell technology utilizes an off-shore propagation process to deliver high quality bare-root cuttings directly to the grower,” says Tristian Bentvelsen, sales manager Pot and Bedding Plants at Dümmen Orange.
Growers such as Costa Farms, Perry van der Haak, and Dickman Farms have already worked with AutoStix for over two years. A total of 120 million cuttings per year is currently going through the system. Robbert Jan in ‘t Veld, sales manager at Visser Horti Systems, adds: “Currently 27 AutoStix machines are running at different growers worldwide, with a growing number of participants this season!”
Live demonstrations with rooted cuttings
During IPM 2019, two AutoStix demonstrations with rooted cuttings will be organized every day at 11.00 and 14.00. Visit Visser at stand 3D30 in hall 3 and get a real-time experience of this unique concept.
