One hundred pupils from ISW secondary school and MBO Westland were given a look inside the greenhouses of Syngenta Flowers on Thursday 14th February. The goal was to introduce the youngsters to the many opportunities and possibilities offered by the innovative horticultural sector.

"Our sector is increasingly in need of well-educated and passionate employees," says Head of Marketing Mark Schermer. "It is very important for us to interest and stimulate young talents, so that in the future we will be a possible choice for their career."
From seed to young plant
The doors of the young plant nursery in De Lier opened for the pupils, where Gaultheria is grown at the moment. The students saw how the Syngenta Flowers team works in the greenhouses, from the moment the seeds are sown until the young plant is ready to go to the growers.
"Both the ISW students and the MBO students found the company visit at Syngenta Flowers very interesting and instructive," says initiator Yvonne van Santen of ISW Ondernemen. "The pupils have got a better picture of the Westland business community where they might start their career later."

Syngenta Flowers likes to show students the challenges and enjoyment of working in the horticultural sector, schools are welcome to visit the Syngenta locations.
